Originally born and raised in Connecticut, I moved to Maine with my family in 1983. By 1990 I graduated from Gorham High School, and my journey landed me in Worcester, Massachusetts where I studied psychology and English at Assumption College, earning my bachelor's degree in 1994.
My first teaching job was in 1996 with the English and Social Studies Departments at Lake Region High School. While there, I received my Master's Degree in Education from the University of Southern Maine (USM) in 1998. Buying a house in Standish and getting married sparked my interest in Bonny Eagle, and I joined their English Department in 2000. In the fall of 2011, I became certified with the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards in English Language Arts. A year later I joined up with the English Department here at Windham High School. In the Spring of 2016, I earned another master's degree from USM in American and New England Studies, with my thesis focusing on Woody Guthrie and his influence on American protest music. Since running cross-country and track for Gorham in the 80s, I have raced every distance: from the 40 yard dash to the Boston Marathon. I have been coaching running (both track and cross-country) on and off for the last twenty years. I am happy to join up with with track and field and look forward to working with all of you! I have two daughters, both of whom attend Bonny Eagle schools (you may race against one one of them!), two dogs, two cats, and a wife. In my spare time I run trails, climb mountains, pluck my bass, read books, and listen to music. |
